Council Updates

1. Corporations Canada has approved the deferral of our Annual General Members Meeting until December 2020 at the latest due to the pandemic. As per our Bylaws, Regular Monthly Members Meetings cannot be held by electronic means or by proxy votes. A different meeting format will be arranged for Ministry updates and discussions.

2. Staffing Update:
Upon the departure of Pastor Dave, Pastor Tina is now the interim Lead Pastor for our English Ministry; Elijah Lucero is the new Youth Worker supporting Teens Sunday School and Anthem.

Thank you Pastor Tina for stepping up and shepherding the English congregation. Thank you Lord for sending us Elijah as our Youth Worker. May the Lord strengthen and bless both Pastor Tina and Elijah as they use their gifts to love and serve Your people.

CLBC Response to COVID-19

Given the rapidly changing COVID-19 situation, the Ontario government has declared a state of emergency. CLBC believes that limiting social interaction in the coming weeks will be crucial in slowing the spread of the virus.

To continue to uphold social responsibility and to protect our brothers and sisters and the larger community, effective this Sunday, our Sunday service (both Chinese and English) will be exclusively live-streamed using Zoom Meeting. The church building will not be open to the public. We also ask that you reach out to each other and ensure that you all know how to access this virtual space.

The Pastoral Team and Council will continue to monitor new developments and send updates when further steps are determined. Arrangements for virtual meeting platforms will be shared with group leaders accordingly.

Amidst all the uncertainty about COVID-19, let us all continue to stand upon the firm foundation of Jesus Christ.

Sign up to be a Mentor!

We are excited to introduce our Mentorship Program this year.

If you are a born again Christian with a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, and you’d like to share your God-given resources and wisdom with others, you should prayerfully consider becoming a Mentor! This is a great opportunity for those with more life and spiritual experience to be a role model, coach or mentor.

Applications for Mentors is open until June 7. Mentee applications will be announced at a later date.

Help from Markham Community Group

Markham Community Group would like to extend help to those who are not able to get groceries and daily essentials during this time in the face of COVID-19. If you know of anyone who has any needs or you yourself have any needs, please email Edith.

We are grateful that TCBC has donated 500 masks to us. We plan to keep the masks for ministry use, but if any brother or sister is lacking masks right now, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the pastors of the church.
