God is telling a story.
A story of redemption and restoration.
It began with words spoken by Him as He set all of life into motion. Yet it didn’t stop there.
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. (John 1:14)
In Jesus, the Word was embodied in flesh and blood, showing us who God really is — One who heals, teaches, eats with sinners and ultimately lays down His life so that we may live a new one.
We live in God’s story by following Jesus.
In Jesus, we live our story within the larger, richer story of God.
Jesus said this himself:
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well.
Jesus invites you to follow Him.
Jesus is the way for you to start living. Anyone can receive Jesus, there are no minimum requirements, no hoops you need to jump through, no mountains you need to climb.
Just receive Jesus into your life.
Being a Jesus Follower (aka Christian)
So “How do I begin to follow Jesus you ask,” you asked.
Well, it’s actually quite simple.
Believe in Jesus by entrusting your life to Him. Believing that Jesus Christ died on the cross for you and all of humanity; that God raised Him from the dead three days later, conquering sin and death. And as a result of this Good News, your sins are now forgiven, you are now brought back to God through Jesus for the purpose of living with, in, and for God.
That’s all. Do that and you have began your life of following Jesus. You’re a Christian!
Scripture, or the Bible as we also call it, is central to faith in Jesus. To most people, navigating this big book can be intimidating. That’s why we suggest beginning in the Gospel of Mark, reading 10 minute of it a day for the purpose of knowing Jesus.
May you be blessed as you follow Jesus with his church! Come journey with us.
