Shipwrecked, arrested, beaten, mocked, ridiculed.

You name it, the apostle Paul’s been through it.

All things considered, he had all the reasons to quit.

But what keeps him going, you may ask? Well, if we look at our passage we see that he holds on so tightly to what he claims to be the secret to going through every season in life.

It is Christ that sustains him.

It is Christ that strengthens him.

Again, he had all the reasons to just walk away. If I were in his shoes, with all honesty maybe I would’ve. After all I’ve gone through, I just don’t see any more reason why this is still worth it; why I have to suffer all this unnecessary pain. Why do I subject myself through so much hurt and disappointments.

But yet just like Paul, we can keep going today. If we believe in Jesus Christ, we are grafted to Him like a branch grafted to the vine. We are given strength anew to keep striving for the goal of simply knowing God and making Him known. After all, all things work out for our own good (Romans 8:28).

Hold on to Him. In every season, He is still God.
